Financial Educator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Consult with patients about their benefits, coverage options, and financial alternatives.

• Carry out tasks related to benefit verification and prior authorization.

• Offer continuous financial education and support throughout the patient's care journey.

• Act as an educator, advocate, and liaison for patients.

• Maintain patient accounts by collecting, documenting, and updating personal financial and insurance details.

• Assist the team in serving patients and teams across DC, Maryland, and Virginia.

• Collaborate with physicians, colleagues, departments, staff, managers, patients, and insurance providers.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 to 4 years of experience in a medical business office.

• Familiarity with healthcare billing and collections, insurance/benefits, and patient interactions.

• Proficient in reading and interpreting payer remittance advice.

• Ability to distinguish between allowed charges, contractual adjustments, line item denials/reasons, patient responsibilities, co-pays, co-insurance, and deductibles.

• Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.

• Experience working in an OB/GYN office is advantageous.

• Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with departments, staff, physicians, managers, patients, and insurance companies.

• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

• Capable of working independently and attentive to details.

• Computer literate.

• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

• High standard of customer service.
