This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• Utilize integrated health information systems and telecommunications technology to ensure accessible, coordinated, and seamless interactions with customers.
• Accurately search for patients within the EPIC database to minimize the occurrence of duplicate patient records.
• Evaluate patients’ financial capabilities and refer them to financial counseling when deemed appropriate.
• Submit eligibility inquiries to payors for the verification of current coverage.
• Provide payors with clinical, insurance, and demographic details necessary for precertification.
• Confirm insurance eligibility through various verification tools.
• Request and establish referrals for designated populations as required.
• Pre-certify services, acquire authorization numbers, and input medical, ICD, and CPT codes into patient accounts.
• Reach out to external entities to confirm employment and insurance details for workers’ compensation cases.
• Collaborate with the Veterans’ Administration to ensure services are appropriately covered and authorized.
• Deliver accurate information to billing and case management teams to facilitate claim payments.
• Maintain professional relationships with medical personnel, referring physicians, and their designees to secure comprehensive and timely clinical and financial information.
• Provide exceptional customer service while adhering to HIPAA and Office of Compliance confidentiality standards.
• Notify management of any system and workflow issues.
• Perform Financial Clearance Representative Pre-Reg responsibilities and assist in that area as assigned.
• Undertake additional duties as assigned.
• An associate degree or higher, or a high school diploma/GED accompanied by 2+ years of experience in insurance, healthcare, or a related field.
• Outstanding customer service abilities, enthusiasm, compassion, and capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Superior verbal and written communication skills.
• High level of interpersonal skills suitable for sensitive and confidential circumstances.
• Capability to build effective working relationships with patients, physicians, team members, and others.
• Consistent attendance, punctuality, professionalism, attention to detail, cooperation, and courteousness.
• Ability to escalate concerns when necessary.
• Knowledge and comprehension of coding, insurance, and Federal, State, and third-party billing/reimbursement protocols.
• Proficiency with PC applications, including MS Office and Internet usage.
