This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.
• Oversee the complete payroll processing cycle, collaborating with People Operations to ensure precision, compliance, and prompt resolution of inquiries.
• Take charge of the accounts payable function, which includes handling invoice processing, supplier reconciliations, and payment runs.
• Assist with month-end closing by performing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and providing supporting documentation.
• Collaborate with the offshore finance team on transaction processing tasks.
• Manage and review overhead cost structures, partnering with budget holders throughout the organization to monitor expenditures and highlight discrepancies.
• Serve as a business partner to the People and Operations teams, offering financial insights and assistance on cost-related issues.
• Contribute to Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and financial reporting tasks, including forecasting, reporting, and ad hoc analyses.
• Assist the Financial Controller and Senior Accountant with internal initiatives focused on enhancing finance processes and controls.
• Identify and recommend ways to streamline and automate transactional accounting tasks.
• Report directly to the Financial Controller while closely collaborating with the Finance Director, Senior Accountant, and People Operations team.
• Experience in payroll, accounts payable, or broader transactional accounting, preferably in a SaaS, tech, or rapidly growing business environment.
• Strong attention to detail coupled with a meticulous and methodical approach to work tasks.
• Proficient in accounting software (Xero) and skilled in Google Sheets or Excel.
• Excellent communication abilities, comfortable working collaboratively with People Operations and other business partners.
• A genuine enthusiasm for learning about the edtech industry and evolving into a broader finance generalist role over time.
• Capability to work autonomously while also effectively contributing as part of a small, high-performing team.
• Must possess Australian working rights.
