Finance Manager – Controller

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Take charge of all financial operations, encompassing budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and analysis.

• Oversee payroll using Rippling and manage daily financial activities.

• Lead headcount cost modeling and gain insight into the fully-loaded cost associated with each role.

• Manage P&L reporting and provide regular financial updates to leadership.

• Supervise and optimize cash flow along with the efficient utilization of company resources.

• Monitor budgets through Ramp and identify any out-of-policy employee expenditures.

• Ensure adherence to financial compliance, including tax filings, GAAP-aligned reporting, and audit preparedness.

• Establish internal controls and financial policies.

• Remain updated on payment compliance regulations as the payments platform evolves.

• Engage hands-on with Passes' proprietary system and Mercury for manual payouts, vendor invoicing, and general payment processing.

• Assist in financial operations for the payments platform, collaborating with the technical team on payment flows and their impact on the financial records.

• Collaborate with the Head of People on sales commission frameworks, payout modeling, and compensation analysis.

• Gain exposure to fundraising and M&A dynamics within a startup context.

• Identify and address financial risks.

⛳️ Requirements

• 1-4 years of experience in finance roles, with consideration for less experienced candidates who possess an outstanding academic or professional background.

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.

• Strong proficiency with AI tools, especially Claude, is a mandatory requirement.

• Comfortable taking full ownership of a department with limited senior support.

• Excellent analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration abilities.

• Flourishes in a fast-paced, uncertain startup atmosphere.

• Must be eligible to work in the US; applicants will be asked about their legal authorization to work in the US.

• Proficient in Mercury, Ramp, Rippling, Claude, Microsoft Office (Excel), and Google Suite.
