Finance Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Lead, mentor, and develop the Accounting team encompassing Billing, Collections, Staff Accounting, and Accounting Operations.

• Take ownership of the monthly close process, ensuring that financial statements are precise, comprehensive, and submitted on schedule.

• Review Profit & Loss Statements, Balance Sheets, reconciliations, journal entries, and accompanying schedules.

• Supervise monthly revenue recognition in alignment with company policy.

• Collaborate with Billing and Operations to address discrepancies among campaign activity, invoicing, and recognized revenue.

• Manage payroll and commission calculations, ensuring accurate and timely processing for each pay period.

• Monitor accounts receivable, collections, cash flow, and billing performance.

• Partner with executive leadership on budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, headcount planning, and long-term financial modeling.

• Establish and uphold internal controls, accounting policies, documentation, and audit-ready financial records.

• Identify opportunities for workflow automation, enhancement of financial systems, and increased efficiency and scalability within the Finance function.

• Develop KPIs, dashboards, and reporting to enhance business performance visibility.

• Promote accountability, ownership, continuous improvement, and professional development throughout the Finance team.

• Provide accurate and timely monthly financial reporting, ensuring a predictable month-end close.

• Support scalable finance processes through automation, documentation, and operational enhancements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including leadership roles.

• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, month-end close processes, revenue recognition, and internal controls.

• Proven experience in leading and developing accounting teams within a dynamic, high-growth environment.

• Advanced proficiency with QuickBooks or similar ERP/accounting systems.

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.

• Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

• Outstanding attention to detail.

• CPA designation, whether active or inactive, is a plus.

• Experience in a services business, marketing agency, talent management, advertising, or media company is advantageous.

• Familiarity with commission accounting, payroll administration, and multi-entity accounting is desirable.

• Experience in implementing accounting systems, automation tools, or process enhancements is a bonus.

• Background in supporting budgeting, forecasting, and executive financial reporting is beneficial.
