Finance Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes throughout the Group.

• Oversee accounting across various legal entities and jurisdictions.

• Manage the daily accounting functions of a small team of two.

• Evaluate journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting documentation, and balance sheet accounts.

• Maintain the closing calendar along with responsibilities and controls.

• Enhance the speed, quality, and reliability of the closing process.

• Serve as a crucial Finance contact for annual audits and reviews.

• Collaborate with FP&A to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

• Handle monthly Group consolidation across multiple entities and currencies.

• Administer intercompany entries, reconciliations, and eliminations.

• Review adjustments for foreign currency translation and consolidation.

• Ensure VAT compliance and manage indirect tax obligations.

• Assist with corporate income tax filings, tax provisions, and local tax requirements.

• Maintain the compliance calendar and aid in transfer pricing documentation.

• Oversee accounting and financial reporting processes in NetSuite.

• Drive automation in reconciliations, consolidation, reporting, and recurring accounting tasks.

• Guarantee that accurate financial data flows into Finance from operational systems.

• Identify process inefficiencies and apply practical solutions.

• Document Finance processes, accounting policies, and audit trails.

• Integrate AI and automation into Finance operations as a core component.

• Design AI-enabled workflows for reconciliations, intercompany matching, VAT reviews, transaction classification, closing controls, and anomaly detection.

• Develop a human oversight and validation approach based on exceptions.

• Measure enhancements through reduced closing timelines, fewer reconciliations, minimized errors, and increased Finance capacity.

• Report to the VP Finance and work closely with Finance, Operations, Sales, Growth, People, external accountants, tax advisors, and auditors.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in accounting, audit (Big 4), financial controlling, or a similar finance role, preferably in an international setting.

• Strong technical knowledge of accounting principles with an understanding of P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow accounting.

• Practical experience in managing or coordinating monthly and annual financial closings.

• Familiarity with multiple legal entities and intercompany accounting.

• Solid understanding of financial controls and audit requirements.

• Experience with ERP systems and the ability to investigate transactions directly within these systems.

• Proficient in Excel / Google Sheets with a high level of comfort in managing large financial data sets.

• Excellent proficiency in written and spoken English.

• A proactive, ownership-oriented approach with a knack for investigating issues and identifying root causes.

• A keen interest in leveraging AI, automation, and new technologies to enhance Finance processes and minimize manual tasks.

• CPA, ACCA, ACA, Swiss Certified Expert in Accounting and Controlling, or equivalent qualification (preferred).

• Experience with NetSuite and Aleph (preferred).

• Familiarity with multi-entity and multi-currency consolidation (preferred).

• Background in an international scale-up or rapidly growing company (preferred).

• Knowledge of VAT compliance across various European jurisdictions (preferred).

• Experience with US sales tax, Australian GST, or other international indirect tax systems (preferred).

• Familiarity with inventory accounting and product COGS (preferred).

• Experience with AI, workflow automation, data analytics, or other finance automation tools (preferred).
