This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee daily accounting and financial operations.
• Direct the monthly and annual closing processes, which include journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and allocations.
• Ensure the integrity of the general ledger and accurate classification of transactions in accordance with GAAP, organizational policies, and funding stipulations.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, cash flow analyses, and management reports.
• Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, vendor payments, billings, collections, and reconciliations.
• Prepare and review bank reconciliations and balance-sheet-account reconciliations.
• Manage payroll accounting and the recording and allocation of personnel costs.
• Assist in monitoring cash flow and treasury functions.
• Coordinate annual financial statement audits and additional financial reviews.
• Collaborate with external auditors to fulfill audit requirements.
• Manage tax and regulatory filings, including Forms 1099 and 1096.
• Keep financial records and supporting documentation organized.
• Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, rolling forecasts, cash flow projections, and long-term financial strategies.
• Analyze budget versus actual results, trends, and variances.
• Aid in scenario planning and financial analysis for resource allocation and decision-making.
• Supervise financial management of grants and contracts, including both restricted and unrestricted funding.
• Review grant and contract expenditures for compliance, allocation, allowability, and budget availability.
• Oversee personnel and shared-cost allocations.
• Monitor budgets and spending for grants and contracts and communicate financial risks.
• Work in partnership with Business Development and Program teams on proposals, budgets, amendments, and financial reporting.
• Provide guidance and training on financial requirements and allocation processes for grants and contracts.
• Cultivate cross-functional relationships and advise staff on accounting, budgeting, grant management, and financial processes.
• Convert complex financial information into actionable insights.
• Enhance and maintain accounting systems, workflows, policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Aid in the implementation, integration, and optimization of financial systems.
• Identify opportunities for automation and enhancements in data quality.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline is required.
• At least eight (8) years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management.
• Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles.
• Experience with restricted funding, accounting for grants and contracts, functional expense reporting, and cost allocations.
• Proven experience in leading month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Proficiency in preparing accurate financial statements and management reports.
• Experience in supporting annual financial statement audits and preparing audit schedules and supporting documents.
• Familiarity with financial management of grants and contracts, including budgeting, expenditure tracking, cost allocations, personnel time allocation, and funder reporting requirements.
• Strong grasp of internal controls with a background in enhancing accounting processes, policies, systems, and workflows.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience working with cloud-based accounting and financial systems.

• CPA or advanced degree is preferred.
