This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nevada, +1 more state.
• Utilize electrical theory and analytical skills to troubleshoot and implement testing plans for protection and control systems and schemes.
• Assist the designated team in executing work plans safely and efficiently while maintaining a quality-assurance mindset.
• Aid in acceptance testing and routine maintenance of power equipment in transmission and distribution substations.
• Conduct testing on relaying, pilot channel equipment, controls, and communications devices.
• Validate local and SCADA metering.
• Calibrate relays.
• Execute local and SCADA trip testing.
• Test digital fault recorders (DFRs), sequence of event recorders (SERs), and end-to-end line relay systems.
• Implement test procedures for various types of relay testing equipment.
• Maintain awareness of substation operations and prioritize safety.
• Support testing activities as directed by the project leader.
• Understanding of 3-phase power systems.
• Familiarity with power system protection and control schemes.
• Proficient in test equipment and related software.
• Field experience in commissioning, panel and equipment checkout, relay calibration, as well as testing and repairing substation relaying and control schemes is preferred.
• Knowledge of test equipment and tool/wiring application.
• Capability to interpret wiring and elementary diagrams.
• Basic testing skills.
• Fundamental PC skills.
• Capacity to learn and apply client-specific switching procedures and safety protocols under direct supervision.
• Ability to reference and complete tasks as outlined in applicable specifications.
• Willingness to perform regular fieldwork both indoors and outdoors.
• Quick to learn and execute test procedures for various substation equipment.
• Physical ability to perform activities such as pushing, pulling, lifting, and bending in various weather conditions.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 lbs. unaided.
• Associate of Science in Electrical Technology (AET) or equivalent specialized training in system protection.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
