Field Technician D

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Deliver technical support for FAA programs and systems, including FTI, MS, ADS-B, DCNS, WMSS, and other associated programs.

• Install, repair, configure, test, and conduct preventative maintenance on equipment at clients’ remote sites.

• Operate remotely in both scheduled and on-call capacities at various customer locations within the designated area.

• Occasionally travel to remote sites outside the designated area to meet FAA customer requirements.

• Interpret, comprehend, and adhere to equipment diagrams and task orders.

• Document and take notes on work conducted at customer locations.

• Collaborate directly with the NOCC, SAC, and Helpdesk via phone to address field issues.

• Manage tools, testing equipment, parts/electronics, truck stock inventory, and personal or company vehicles.

• Prepare in advance for assigned tasks prior to dispatch.

• Coordinate with the supervisor (ASL) to ensure compliance with L3Harris and program-specific policies and procedures.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or a 2-year post-Secondary/Associates Degree plus a minimum of 4 years of related experience.

• Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License along with a satisfactory driving history.

• Capability to obtain an FAA Public Trust or a U.S. Government Security Clearance.

• Proficient in installing, repairing, configuring, testing, and performing preventative maintenance on equipment.

• Ability to read, understand, and follow equipment diagrams and task orders.

• Strong administrative skills for effective note-taking and documentation.

• Capacity to work remotely in scheduled and on-call settings at customer locations.

• Willingness to work outside of regular hours when necessary.

• Capable of lifting items weighing up to 32 lbs. and using ladders and step stools to reach approximately 10 ft.

• Preferred qualifications: Network+, CCNA, CCNP, CCNA Wireless, or A+ certifications.

• Working knowledge of cable connectors such as RJ-11, RJ-45, DB-25, V.35, and RS-449.

• Familiarity with fiber, multiplexers, network topology, Frame Relay, Fractional T-1, SONET, ATM, private line, and voice/data applications.

• Experience with AC/DC power testing, including 3-phase AC.

• Understanding of 24V DC and 48V DC power supplies.

• Experience with T1, DS3, BERT, and analog VG testing in accordance with Bell Core standards.

• Proficient in using network testing equipment such as JDSU HST, Ameritech AM5XT, Sage 935, digital oscilloscope, Halcyon 704A, or Para-scope.

• Knowledge of IP-based systems and experience with configuring routers and switches.
