Field Technician C, Dallas, TX – Fort Worth, TX

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Deliver technical assistance for FAA-supported programs and systems such as FTI, MS, ADS-B, DCNS, WMSS, and others.

• Install, repair, configure, test, and conduct preventative maintenance on equipment at customer remote sites.

• Provide both scheduled and on-call field support at customer locations within the designated area.

• Occasionally travel to remote locations outside the assigned area to assist FAA customer requirements.

• Read, comprehend, and adhere to equipment schematics and task orders.

• Record work performed and events at customer sites.

• Collaborate with the NOCC, SAC, and Helpdesk via phone to resolve field issues.

• Maintain tools, test equipment, parts/electronics, truck stock inventory, and personal or company vehicles.

• Prepare in advance for assigned tasks prior to dispatch.

• Ensure compliance with company and program-specific policies and procedures in coordination with the supervisor (ASL).

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent, along with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, or 2 years of post-Secondary/Associates Degree with at least 2 years of related experience.

• A valid Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record are mandatory conditions of employment.

• Capability to obtain and maintain an FAA security clearance.

• Proficiency in installing, repairing, configuring, testing, and performing preventative maintenance on equipment.

• Ability to read, interpret, and follow equipment schematics and task orders.

• Strong administrative skills for effective note-taking and documentation.

• Willingness to work outside regular hours or on-call as necessary.

• Capacity to lift items weighing up to 32 lbs. and utilize ladders/step stools to reach heights of approximately 10 feet.

• Preferred certifications include Network+, CCNA, CCNP, CCNA Wireless, or A+.

• Exceptional customer service skills are preferred.

• Ability to thrive in a high-stress and high-visibility environment is preferred.

• Familiarity with cable connectors such as RJ-11, RJ-45, DB-25, V.35, and RS-449 is preferred.

• Strong working knowledge of fiber optics and familiarity with multiplexes, network topology, Frame Relay, Fractional T-1, SONET, ATM, private line, voice, and data applications is preferred.

• Working knowledge of AC/DC power testing, including 3 Phase AC, and 24VDC/48VDC power supplies is preferred.

• Experience with T1, DS3, BERT, and analog VG testing adhering to Bell Core Standards is preferred.

• Familiarity with network testing equipment such as JDSU HST, Ameritech AM5XT, Sage 935, digital oscilloscope, Halcyon 704A, and Para-scope is preferred.

• Knowledge of IP-based configurations, including routers and switches, is preferred.

• Experience in installing equipment racks is preferred.
