This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa, +2 more states.
• Provide support for L3Harris Technologies’ Field Services team that assists the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
• Install, repair, configure, test, and conduct preventative maintenance on networking equipment, telecommunications devices, and computers.
• Keep detailed records of repairs, system downtimes, modifications, and updates.
• Execute basic software troubleshooting and diagnostics tasks.
• Act as the primary contact for unresolved issues from Help Desk or NOC inquiries.
• Install both hardware and software, including operating systems and office applications.
• Offer technical support for computer hardware, software, and networks to end users.
• Assist with the setup and configuration of system hardware and software.
• Travel to remote locations within the designated region, as well as beyond, when necessary.
• High School Diploma or equivalent, with at least 6 years of relevant experience, or 2 years of post-secondary education/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of related work experience.
• Extensive knowledge in the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications systems and equipment.
• Proficient in Microsoft or UNIX operating systems along with the MS Office Suite.
• Willingness to travel up to 100% of the time to remote locations within a 4-hour driving radius; may require travel outside the assigned area.
• Valid Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record.
• Capability to obtain an FAA Public Trust clearance.
• Strong understanding of cable connectors such as RJ-11, RJ-45, DB-25, V.35, and RS-449.
• Excellent knowledge of fiber optics.
• Familiarity with multiplexes, network topology, Frame Relay, Fractional T-1, SONET Network Technology, ATM, Private Line, and voice/data applications.
• Working knowledge of AC/DC power testing, including 3 Phase AC and 24VDC/48VDC power supplies.
• Experience with T1, DS3, digital BERT, and analog VG testing following Bell Core Standards.
• Proficient in using network test equipment, including JDSU HST, Ameritech AM5XT, Sage 935, Digital Oscilloscope, Halcyon 704A, and Para-scope or similar T1/DS3 testing devices.
• Basic software troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to install hardware/software, operating systems, and office applications.
• Network+, CCNA, CCNP, CCNA Wireless, or A+ certification is preferred.
• Capability to work from home while on-call.
• Ability to lift up to 32 pounds.
• Competence in using ladders and step stools to reach heights of approximately 10 feet.
• Willingness and ability to work outside of regular hours and respond to after-hours emergency calls.
