Field Supervisor – Internal Inspection Team

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee safe and effective internal inspections of wind turbine blades utilizing SkySpecs internal inspection systems.

• Act as the primary technician on-site and the main authority for daily field operations.

• Manage turbine access, climbing operations, confined-space blade work, technician supervision, and worksite activities.

• Confirm the safe operational status of turbines prior to inspections.

• Conduct pre-job briefings, hazard evaluations, and daily discussions on safety.

• Monitor technician performance and take action in unsafe situations.

• Ensure accountability for PPE, climbing gear, rescue tools, and inspection systems.

• Offer on-site mentorship, onboarding, and training for technicians.

• Implement annual refresher training and conduct site audits.

• Complete all required training and compliance documentation.

• Direct operations using the SkySpecs crawler inspection system.

• Organize daily field activities, including scheduling, task distribution, and workflow management.

• Set up, operate, troubleshoot, and manage inspection equipment.

• Ensure adherence to inspection procedures and workflows.

• Collaborate with the SkySpecs HSE Department and Internal Inspections Manager on competency and training initiatives.

• Complete and maintain site documentation, permits, procedures, and operational records.

• Track GWO certifications and ensure training compliance.

• Support readiness for audits and retention of documentation.

• Report on operational issues, incidents, and compliance matters.

• Submit training reports and audit forms using Airspace Pro and the SkySpecs Field Application.

• Mentor technicians and facilitate communication between technicians, supervisors, management, and clients.

• Advocate for safety, quality, accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in wind turbine operations, blade inspections, rope access, climbing operations, or related field services.

• At least 1 year of demonstrated experience as a Field Technician employed by SkySpecs.

• Solid understanding of turbine safety protocols and field operations.

• Proven leadership experience in field settings or technical operations.

• Capability to lead teams in high-risk operational surroundings.

• Excellent communication and organizational abilities.

• Proficiency in maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring procedural adherence.

• Comfort with working at heights and in confined or restricted spaces.

• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as needed.

• Current GWO certifications are preferred.

• Experience with internal blade inspections or robotic crawler inspection systems is a plus.

• Previous supervisory or lead technician experience is preferred.

• Rope access, rescue, or advanced climbing expertise is favored.

• Familiarity with customer site compliance programs and operational procedures is a plus.

• Ability to regularly climb wind turbines.

• Capability to work at heights for extended durations.

• Ability to lift and carry inspection and climbing equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

• Comfort working in diverse weather and environmental conditions.

• Ability to work within confined blade spaces during inspections.

• Willingness to work outdoors for over 12 hours per day.

• Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
