Field Service Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Conduct troubleshooting and provide training for customers on both new and existing machinery.

• Commission new machines, which includes testing and demonstrating equipment at customer sites.

• Perform repairs on existing equipment at customer locations.

• Diagnose issues with machines and carry out service, maintenance, and repairs.

• Travel 70–80% of the time to various Canadian and international customer locations for machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs, and training.

• Suggest repair parts and improvements to products for customers.

• Guide and instruct customers on the correct maintenance and operation of Nordco equipment.

• Compile weekly travel expense reports and field documentation.

• Collaborate with engineering and/or production teams to address issues with new machinery.

• Participate in the ongoing enhancement of equipment and processes.

• Work autonomously while establishing productive relationships with customers.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent qualification.

• At least 5 years of experience as a mechanic specializing in industrial or mobile heavy equipment.

• In-depth understanding of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems.

• Capability to read and interpret schematics.

• Proficient in troubleshooting and resolving equipment issues.

• Strong mechanical aptitude.

• Ability to understand and follow written, oral, and diagrammatic instructions.

• Competence in resolving practical challenges and handling various situations.

• Skill in reading and interpreting business documents, technical procedures, government regulations, and professional publications.

• Proficient in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

• Ability to effectively communicate information and answer queries.

• Strong capability to build and maintain customer relationships.

• A valid driver's license is mandatory.

• A valid passport is required.

• Proficiency in French is preferred.

• Training in PLC and/or CanBus systems troubleshooting is highly desirable.

• Previous experience in the railroad industry is an advantage.
