This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Carry out on-site installation of advanced equipment and adhere to testing protocols to guarantee proper functionality.
• Perform scheduled maintenance visits on-site as part of planned upkeep.
• Offer diagnostic and repair assistance to clients and other field staff.
• Foster and nurture positive relationships with customers, system users, and company staff.
• Travel frequently, often on short notice, to customer locations to troubleshoot issues or support fellow field service team members.
• Complete and submit field service documentation.
• Deliver training to customers and users regarding system maintenance.
• Provide constructive feedback to product quality teams.
• Contribute written updates and corrections to Thermo Fisher system documentation.
• Offer guidance for reports, including the identification and isolation of existing system issues.
• Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for training purposes.
• A bachelor's degree is required.
• At least 3 years of hands-on technical experience with electronic systems, including the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of sophisticated analytical tools like SEM, TEM, FIB, or equivalent systems.
• In-depth knowledge and significant experience in diagnosing and repairing ultra-high vacuum and high voltage systems, or similar technologies.
• Proven ability to effectively engage with customers.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills are essential.
• Professional proficiency in English is required.
• Consistent track record of resolving complex systems and subsystems down to the component level.
• Proficient in MS DOS and Windows software environments.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics.
• Familiarity with UHV phenomena and technology is preferred.
• Must be capable of obtaining a valid passport and willing to travel regionally and internationally as necessary.
• A valid driver's license is required.
• Capability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Able to work in a laboratory environment and utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE).
