This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa.
• Conduct both virtual and on-site investigations at the residences of policyholders.
• Evaluate property damage, establish liability, assess losses, and negotiate equitable settlements.
• Utilize claims handling software, a company vehicle, and a laptop to assess damage and create paperless estimates.
• Analyze and report potential subrogation opportunities.
• Notify relevant state and industry agencies about incidents of theft, fraud, and arson.
• Carry out responsibilities independently, significantly influencing management outcomes.
• Represent the company in a professional manner during public interactions.
• Interact with policyholders, claimants, agents, witnesses, contractors, law enforcement, investigators, attorneys, and medical professionals.
• Negotiate settlements with policyholders for their claims.
• Advocate for safety and adhere to the company's safety and ergonomic standards.
• Undertake additional duties as assigned.
• Participate in 1 to 3 annual CAT deployments, which may involve travel away from home.
• A High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
• Exceptional customer service experience, ideally in a retail setting.
• Experience in Construction or Insurance is highly desirable and preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication abilities.
• Proficient in computer applications: MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Familiarity with smartphones and relevant applications.
• A keen desire to learn about insurance policies and property damage.
• An outgoing personality with comfort in engaging with policyholders, claimants, agents, witnesses, and investigators.
• A valid driver's license is required.
• Must be bondable.
• Residency within the hiring territory is necessary; preference given to applicants in Iowa City, IA.
• Willingness to engage in 1 to 3 CAT deployments each year.
• Capability to travel away from home for CAT deployments, typically lasting 2 to 3 days.
• Ability to climb ladders and work on rooftops multiple times each day.
• Competence in working in small, confined spaces such as attics and crawlspaces.
• Must achieve a minimum passing score on all claims training examinations.
• Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Proficiency in speaking, reading, writing, and data entry in English.
• Must successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Record background check if assigned a company vehicle.
