Field CTO

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as the executive technology representative, championing technology and serving as a trusted advisor for 3Cloud’s Enterprise Advisory & Solution Architecture practice.

• Develop peer-level connections with CIOs, CTOs, CDOs, and leaders in transformation.

• Influence market narratives through active industry involvement and engagement with analysts.

• Convert technology strategies into business outcomes that executives can support and manage.

• Establish a technology vision and long-term transformation strategies across key accounts.

• Frame technology choices in the context of options, tradeoffs, enterprise risk, and anticipated value.

• Advocate for the elimination of technical debt and modernization efforts.

• Link technology investments to quantifiable enterprise value, adoption prerequisites, operational model consequences, and governance.

• Represent 3Cloud at client forums, executive briefings, conferences, partner events, and analyst meetings.

• Publish insights, briefings, and narratives.

• Collaborate with analysts, sourcing advisors, consulting firms, and ecosystem partners.

• Foster senior relationships with Microsoft field teams, ISVs, platform partners, and the wider technology ecosystem.

• Drive partner-influenced pipelines and co-selling success.

• Translate partner roadmaps and platform directions into client options and offering decisions.

• Position Microsoft technologies within diverse enterprise environments.

• Define technical direction and quality standards; enhance capabilities through coaching and professional communities.

• Lead outcomes across pursuit, delivery, and partner teams through matrixed influence.

• Shape the portfolio covering Applications, Cloud Platforms, and Data & AI.

• Sponsor reference architectures, solution playbooks, accelerators, and guidelines.

• Advocate for priority pursuits and lead solution defenses.

• Generate executive-level demand and broaden technology initiatives into extensive transformation opportunities.

• Monitor emerging technology trends and industry developments, including advancements in AI.

• Convert innovation into actionable client recommendations, pilot programs, and phased adoption strategies.

• Educate sales, pursuit, and delivery teams on technology trends and capabilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven track record as a Field CTO, Principal CTO, Chief Architect, Distinguished Architect, or a similar externally-facing technology leader in an enterprise modernization, cloud, AI, or technology transformation practice.

• Executive-level technology leadership experience providing advice and/or directly managing complex enterprise technology organizations, including significant interaction with C-suite executives and peer-level relationships with CIOs, CTOs, CDOs, and transformation leaders at Fortune 500 or similar companies.

• Established industry presence demonstrated through keynotes, published viewpoints, briefings, podcasts, analyst interactions, or other acknowledged external platforms.

• Extensive knowledge in Microsoft Azure architecture, particularly in enterprise-scale adoption, governance, security, integration, and modernization.

• Experience in setting technology direction across Applications, Cloud Platforms, and Data & AI, including considerations around operating models and governance.

• Comprehensive understanding of enterprise AI strategy, covering generative AI, agentic systems, data foundations, governance, security, and responsible adoption.

• Capability to advise executives on the integration of Microsoft technologies with non-Microsoft cloud, data, AI, SaaS, and enterprise platforms.

• Excellent executive communication skills that translate technology decisions into business impacts, investment choices, constraints, and risks.

• Strong business and financial acumen linking technology strategy to investment, commercial results, delivery economics, and measurable enterprise value.

• Experience in influencing large pursuits through credibility and solution strategy rather than mechanics of the pursuit.

• Familiarity with shaping offerings, accelerators, platforms, or reusable intellectual property.

• Established senior relationships with hyperscaler and platform partners, capable of driving joint solutions and co-selling.

• Proven experience leading through matrixed influence across account, engineering, security, delivery, practice, and partner stakeholders.

• Experience in developing, coaching, and mentoring senior architects or technology leaders.

• Willingness to travel up to 25 percent as necessary.

• Maintain or be prepared to obtain and keep relevant professional certifications.

• Preferred: experience with hybrid environments and AWS or Google Cloud.

• Preferred: previous roles as a CTO, CIO, Chief Architect, Distinguished Architect, VP of Engineering, or similar experience.

• Preferred: engagement in executive forums, steering committees, board-level settings, analyst briefings, or recognized industry events.

• Preferred: experience in complex, regulated, or distributed enterprise environments.

• Preferred: familiarity with global or multicultural organizations and intricate matrix structures.
