This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Perform comprehensive on-site inspections of properties, which includes scoping, photography, documentation, and generating estimates using written or computer-assisted methods.
• Assess and analyze first-party property claims to ascertain coverage, damages, and potential claim exposure.
• Examine policies, leases, contracts, by-laws, and other relevant documents to determine the validity and coverage of claims.
• Engage with policyholders, public adjusters, contractors, attorneys, vendors, and internal stakeholders effectively.
• Utilize industry-standard tools and technology for claims estimating to create, review, and validate estimates.
• Collaborate with specialists in Subrogation and Fire/Fraud Investigations when necessary.
• Ensure thorough, accurate, and timely documentation of claims and activity notes.
• Establish and update claim reserves as needed.
• Draft claim correspondence, including Reservation of Rights letters and denial notifications.
• Negotiate settlements within designated authority levels and escalate complex or high-exposure issues as required.
• Represent Heritage in depositions, Examinations Under Oath, mediations, trials, and other legal or alternative dispute resolution processes when necessary.
• Remain updated on construction practices, repair methods, local labor and material costs, and market conditions.
• Address inquiries from policyholders, customers, and internal business partners promptly.
• Recognize and report safety, regulatory, or compliance issues.
• Travel within the assigned territory, with occasional travel beyond the region.
• Participate in catastrophe and surge operations, which may require extended hours, overnight travel, and temporary reassignment.
• Adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies and procedures.
• Must obtain and maintain New York adjuster licensing, along with any additional necessary licenses for handling claims in the assigned territory.
• At least 5 years of experience in property claims, including field adjusting experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and claims management systems.
• Capability to independently investigate, assess, negotiate, and resolve property claims.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are essential.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and time-management skills are required.
• A customer-first mindset and professionalism in high-pressure or emotionally challenging environments.
• Ability to work autonomously while managing a remote, mobile, field-based schedule.
• Must be able to climb, kneel, crawl, and lift up to 30 pounds without assistance.
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively within the assigned Long Island/NYC territory, with occasional travel beyond the region.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment background check is mandatory.
