Field Adjuster

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.

📋 Description

• Perform on-site property assessments, which encompass scoping, photography, documentation, and either written or computer-assisted estimates.

• Assess and analyze first-party property claims to ascertain coverage, damages, and claim exposure.

• Examine policies, leases, contracts, by-laws, and other relevant documentation to determine the validity and coverage of claims.

• Engage with policyholders, public adjusters, contractors, attorneys, vendors, and internal colleagues.

• Utilize industry-standard claims estimating tools and technologies to create, review, and validate estimates.

• Collaborate with Subrogation and Fire/Fraud Investigations specialists when necessary.

• Ensure thorough, precise, and timely claim documentation and activity notes are maintained.

• Set up and revise claim reserves as needed.

• Draft claim correspondence, which includes Reservation of Rights and denial letters.

• Negotiate settlements within authorized limits and escalate complex or high-exposure cases as required.

• Represent Heritage in depositions, Examinations Under Oath, mediations, and trials when necessary.

• Keep updated on construction practices, repair methods, local labor and material costs, and market conditions.

• Address inquiries from policyholders, customers, and internal business partners.

• Identify and report any safety, regulatory, or compliance issues.

• Travel within the assigned territory, with occasional travel beyond the region.

• Participate in catastrophe and surge operations, which may involve extended hours, overnight travel, and temporary reassignment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must obtain and maintain New Jersey adjuster licensing, along with any other licenses necessary to manage claims within the designated territory.

• At least 5 years of experience in property claims, including experience in field adjusting.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and claims management systems.

• Proven capability to independently investigate, assess, negotiate, and resolve property claims.

• Strong skills in written, verbal, and interpersonal communication.

• Exceptional analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.

• A customer-first approach and professionalism in high-pressure or emotionally challenging scenarios.

• Ability to work autonomously while managing a remote, mobile, field-based schedule.

• Physical capability to climb, kneel, crawl, and lift up to 30 pounds without assistance.

• Willingness and ability to travel extensively within the assigned Central New Jersey territory, with occasional travel outside the region.

• Successful completion of required pre-employment drug testing and health screening.

• Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.

• Ability to adhere to relevant federal and state laws, regulations, and company policies and procedures.
