This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Zealand.
• Oversee and manage small to medium-scale fast-track applications and workstreams.
• Coordinate contributions across DOC to ensure prompt and consolidated organizational responses.
• Analyze data and prepare reports, offering insights on conservation impacts for decision-makers.
• Provide guidance and assistance to regional operations staff regarding Fast Track Act issues.
• Support larger or more intricate applications as needed.
• Contribute to OIA responses and other regulatory deliverables.
• Establish and nurture effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Represent DOC and ensure its viewpoints are clearly articulated.
• Identify potential risks, escalate issues promptly, and contribute to developing solutions.
• Foster a collaborative team atmosphere by sharing knowledge and reviewing colleagues' work.
• Proven experience in delivering clear, accurate, and well-reasoned analysis and advice.
• Strong report writing abilities with a knack for tailoring messages to diverse audiences.
• Familiarity with regulatory, legislative, or consenting processes.
• Capability to interpret policy and legislation and apply it in practical scenarios.
• Experience in managing small projects or coordinating workstreams.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate competing interests or sensitive matters.
• Strong relationship management skills and the ability to collaborate across teams and with external stakeholders.
• Good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Understanding of or a willingness to learn about Māori tikanga.
• Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its relevance to the work at hand.
• Valid NZ work visa that covers the entire duration of employment.
• Familiarity with Fast-track legislation, conservation management systems, or the Official Information Act is desirable.
• Awareness of DOC’s structure and functions is desirable.
