Family/Parent Board Member

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Act as a nonvoting family or parent representative on the Compass Charter School Board.

• Provide insights from the family and community standpoint during board discussions.

• Engage in board meetings and governance dialogues in an advisory role.

• Complete the designated application, vetting, and board approval procedures.

• Serve a term of one year following board approval.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be a current member or guardian of a family associated with Compass.

• Must have a child who is currently enrolled at Compass Charter School.

• Submit a concise statement of interest along with an application via Team Tailor.

• Engage in vetting discussions with at least two board members and the School Leader.

• Attend and actively participate in all regularly scheduled board meetings.

• Adhere to Compass's mission, values, and commitment to education that emphasizes progressive and sustainability-focused approaches.

• Keep the confidentiality of discussions held during executive sessions.

• Promptly disclose any conflicts of interest and recuse oneself when necessary.

• Complete mandatory board training.

• Act in the best interest of Compass students and the broader school community.
