This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead the estimating team, oversee departmental proposal capabilities, and maintain high proposal quality.
• Manage specific departmental templates and processes.
• Mentor and support team members for both professional and personal development.
• Supervise the creation of competitive and accurate project budgets in response to client RFPs.
• Analyze client RFPs to establish scope, schedule, and design criteria.
• Conduct and review detailed material takeoffs based on design documents and drawings.
• Oversee the development of proposal documents for client submission.
• Create subcontractor bid packages, request pricing, and promote competitive and innovative solutions.
• Address subcontractor RFIs and manage the bid evaluation process, including statistical normalization, selections, and cost recommendations.
• Foster collaboration between Estimating and Operations.
• Compile and manage pricing for utility-scale solar and storage projects.
• Ensure estimates are thorough and accurate prior to review by the Preconstruction Leadership Team.
• Identify and implement value-engineering opportunities alongside Business Development, Engineering, Procurement, and Operations.
• Assist in contract negotiations for client and subcontractor scopes, as well as project pricing updates.
• Support Procurement in finalizing subcontractor scopes, schedules, and budgets.
• Monitor budgets and analyze cost variances for project estimates prepared.
• Aid project teams with change orders and address construction-related issues.
• Provide historical context regarding design decisions and vendor/subcontractor selections.
• Demonstrated leadership experience.
• Required experience in self-perform construction/estimating, utility-scale solar, and/or battery storage systems.
• Excellent coordination, time management, active listening, verbal and written communication, critical thinking, analytical, and reasoning abilities.
• Exceptional attention to detail; self-driven and team-oriented.
• Quick and independent learner.
• Dedication to team and individual growth; capable of assessing staffing requirements and allocating resources effectively.
• Awareness of potential issues and adaptability in approach.
• Strong mathematical abilities.
• Proficient in computer usage and MS Office applications.
• Advanced Excel skills are essential.
• Skills in MS Project are preferred.
• Experience with Procore is an advantage.
• Bachelor’s degree in construction management or a related field is required.
• Previous experience in self-perform estimating is mandatory.
• Required experience in subcontract tendering and response evaluation.
• Required familiarity with solar and/or battery storage.
• Preferred experience in self-perform construction.
• Experience with B2W estimating software is preferred.
• Occasional travel for site visits, client meetings, industry events, and team-building activities.
• Coaching and guidance for professional and personal growth.
