This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assess CIP's current status in relation to ISO 14001, institutional ESG maturity, GCF environmental and social safeguards readiness, and broader donor expectations.

• Provide a validated assessment of the current state and maturity.

• Perform a comprehensive gap analysis that includes ISO, ESG, GCF safeguards, the wider GCF institutional framework, and additional donor requirements.

• Prepare CIP's ESG / Environmental & Social Management Policy.

• Deliver a management briefing on the findings and suggest the scope and sequence for Phases 2 and 3.

• Execute the Phase 1 Diagnose and Frame engagement as an independent consultancy over a span of 25 working days.

⛳️ Requirements

• Possess an advanced degree or equivalent professional certification in environmental management, ESG, sustainability, environmental and social safeguards, climate finance, international development, or a related discipline.

• Proven experience with ISO 14001 systems and conducting readiness/gap assessments for ISO.

• A minimum of 10 years of significant experience with environmental and social management systems and safeguards, alongside a robust understanding of IFC Performance Standards or equivalent MDB safeguard frameworks.

• Knowledge of GCF environmental, social, and institutional standards, as well as gender, stakeholder engagement, grievance, and safeguarding requirements in the context of international development.

• Experience in conducting ESG/ESMS institutional maturity assessments, developing policies and roadmaps, and integrating safeguards within project and partner-management processes.

• Capability to convert international standards into appropriate operational requirements.

• Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills, with strong facilitation and communication abilities at the senior management level.

• Desirable: Background in CGIAR, international agricultural research entities, MDBs, climate finance organizations, or similarly decentralized international institutions.
