Equipment Buyer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Identify and acquire new generators, climate control units, light towers, distribution equipment, and related rental assets

• Transform fleet requirements into comprehensive purchase specifications

• Request and assess competing quotes while creating detailed side-by-side comparisons

• Monitor production slots and factory lead times to safeguard deployment schedules

• Negotiate pricing, volume terms, payment conditions, shipping, warranty coverage, and delivery commitments

• Cultivate and maintain relationships along with national account pricing agreements with OEMs and dealer networks

• Observe the used equipment market and assess acquisition opportunities

• Analyze used units based on hours, service history, load bank results, condition, useful life, and reconditioning costs

• Facilitate pre-purchase and third-party inspections

• Represent JC Davis Power in auction bidding within authorized limits

• Acquire temporary power distribution equipment and manage inventory according to demand

• Ensure purchases comply with NEC, UL, and jobsite safety standards

• Identify alternatives and substitute suppliers

• Generate purchase orders, confirm pricing and terms, and route documentation for authorization

• Coordinate funding methods, lease versus purchase decisions, and capital approval documentation

• Oversee titles, MSOs, serial numbers, VINs, and registration documentation

• Organize freight, heavy haul, and oversize permitting

• Verify receipt, condition, and specification compliance; address vendor discrepancies

• Complete warranty registration and transfer asset records for system onboarding and preventive maintenance setup

• Maintain procurement records, vendor files, purchase history, and pricing benchmarks

• Report on capital spending, acquisition cost trends, lead times, and vendor performance

• Ensure adherence to procurement procedures, approval thresholds, and regulatory standards

• Foster continuous improvement in acquisition costs, lead times, and procurement workflows

⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Preferred: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related discipline

• Over 10 years of purchasing or procurement experience, particularly with capital equipment, fleet, or heavy equipment acquisition

• Familiarity with mobile power generation, climate control, or temporary power distribution equipment

• Capability to interpret spec sheets, parts lists, and equipment diagrams

• Proven ability to assess the condition and value of used equipment

• Strong negotiation skills with a history of securing advantageous pricing and terms on significant purchases

• Proficient in Netsuite ERP or other enterprise asset management software

• Ability to manage multiple open orders, delivery timelines, and competing priorities

• Experience in equipment rental, oilfield services, construction equipment, or industrial equipment distribution

• Knowledge of EPA emissions tiers and their influence on equipment selection and resale value

• Familiarity with auction platforms and used equipment marketplaces

• Understanding of DOT, heavy haul, and oversize load transportation regulations

• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills and a consistent follow-through approach
