This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut.
β’ Design and evaluate overhead and underground transmission systems for utility and developer clients.
β’ Model and assess transmission structures utilizing PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-TOWER.
β’ Implement NESC, ASCE, ACI, IEEE, and relevant standards.
β’ Assist projects from initial routing and engineering analysis to procurement, construction-ready packages, as-builts, and project completion.
β’ Work in collaboration with designers, engineers from various disciplines, and project management teams.
β’ Engage in client-facing project activities.
β’ Conduct structure spotting and transmission line design in PLS-CADD to ensure conductor clearances and loading in compliance with NESC or GO95.
β’ Design and assess transmission structures made of steel, wood, concrete, or fiberglass using PLS-POLE.
β’ Carry out underbuild/joint-use or attachment analysis as necessary.
β’ Execute foundation design or analysis for direct-embed and drilled-pier structures using MFAD or LPILE.
β’ Prepare construction documents, including design basis, plan and profiles, staking sheets, bills of materials, structure data sheets, alignment maps, stringing charts, steel packages, and foundation drawings.
β’ Collaborate with the construction prime on material procurement, specifications, and constructability.
β’ Conduct conductor selection and EMF studies.
β’ Participate in field walks and constructability reviews as required.
β’ Assist in proposal and estimating efforts.
β’ Operate under the supervision of a licensed PE while gradually taking on more design responsibility.
β’ Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Structural, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
β’ 4+ years of relevant experience in electric utility transmission line design with a Bachelor's degree OR 3 years of relevant combined experience with a Master's degree.
β’ Proficient in both PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.
β’ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
β’ Capability to work independently while remaining integrated into a team.
β’ Candidates must reside in the United States.
β’ Experience with TOWER is preferred.
β’ EIT certification or actively pursuing is preferred.
β’ Familiarity with FAD, Mathcad, AutoCAD or MicroStation, LPILE, or GIS tools is preferred.
β’ Knowledge of Bentley ProjectWise is preferred.
β’ Direct mentorship and supervision from a licensed PE.
β’ Clear progression towards independent design ownership and EIT/PE milestones.
