Environmental Health and Safety Specialist II

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Wisconsin.

📋 Description

• Perform lead risk assessments for properties enrolled in DPH's LSHP and those prioritized by CLPPP.

• Create and evaluate lead abatement scopes of work.

• Assess costs associated with lead abatement projects.

• Execute clearance investigations.

• Recognize operational and safety challenges, formulating plans for improvement and standard operating procedures.

• Review updates from the industry and assist in crafting safety communication materials.

• Convey findings to relevant stakeholders.

• Acquire resources and coordinate logistics for safety initiatives.

• Offer specialized safety expertise and guidance to both internal and external stakeholders, including management.

• Oversee logistical operations, allocate resources, and investigate aspects of health and safety concerns.

• Conduct on-site lead safety and health assessments, as well as environmental lead investigations for families across Wisconsin.

⛳️ Requirements

• Willingness to travel frequently throughout Wisconsin, including occasional overnight trips.

• Training may necessitate out-of-state travel for up to one week.

• At least 1 year of relevant experience in construction, housing programs, health departments, inspections, or investigative work.

• Proficient oral and written communication skills with a diverse audience.

• Capability to obtain certification as a lead risk assessor.

• Knowledge or experience in construction, building trades, or housing inspections.

• Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds in and out of a vehicle trunk, from floor to counter height, and transport it from one location to another.

• Ability to climb stairs and ladders without assistance, navigate construction, abatement, and renovation sites with limited or challenging access, and work on knees when collecting environmental samples.

• A valid driver's license is required.

• Employment is contingent upon successfully passing a Pre-hire Driver Authorization Check.

• No DHS enforcements concerning lead or risk assessments in the DHS Lead and Asbestos state compliance database.

• Must maintain continuous eligibility to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
