English Instructor, Full-Time

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama.

📋 Description

• Teach small groups of students foundational English skills to ensure long-term comprehension and high ACT and SAT scores.

• Monitor and assess student progress through Vanguard's structured multi-phase curriculum.

• Encourage individualized growth and improvement opportunities for students.

• Organize and update student lesson schedules accordingly.

• Hold students responsible for their assignments.

• Demonstrate professionalism and strong organizational skills through timely communication with students.

• Design and creatively implement evolving lesson plans and curriculum.

• Guide middle and high school students through the college application journey.

• Partner with instructors, counselors, and specialists to enhance student success.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's degree or higher in a humanities discipline from U.S. institutions (English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Publishing, etc.).

• A master's degree or higher is preferred.

• At least 1 year of teaching experience in English or experience in a college-level Writing Center.

• Proven academic excellence (e.g., a GPA of 3.5 or higher).

• Excellent verbal skills and a strong command of the English language.

• Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and Google Suite.

• A reliable internet connection and a workspace with minimal distractions.

• Commitment to working during specified operational hours.

• Experience teaching at the college or community college level is a preferred qualification.

• Strong understanding of classroom pedagogical techniques.

• Capability to create customized, engaging lesson plans based on practical, real-world examples.

• Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
