English Instructor – FT

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Instruct small groups of students in essential English skills to ensure long-term comprehension and high performance on ACT and SAT examinations.

• Monitor student progress through Vanguard’s multi-phase curriculum.

• Engage students with personalized growth and improvement opportunities.

• Maintain and revise student lesson schedules.

• Hold students accountable for completing assignments.

• Exemplify professionalism and strong organizational skills through prompt communication with students.

• Develop and creatively implement evolving lesson plans and curriculum.

• Mentor middle and high school students throughout the college application process.

• Availability required on Tuesdays–Thursdays, from 1:30 pm to 9:30 pm CST, and on Saturdays–Sundays, from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm CST.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in a humanities discipline from accredited US institutions (such as English, Creative Writing, Journalism, or Publishing).

• A Master’s degree or higher is preferred.

• At least 1 year of teaching experience in English or experience in a college-level Writing Center.

• Proven academic excellence (e.g., a GPA of 3.5 or higher).

• Strong verbal communication skills and proficiency in the English language.

• Familiarity with MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and G-Suites.

• A reliable internet connection and a workspace free from significant noise or distractions.

• Willingness to work during the specified hours of operation.

• Experience teaching at the college or community college level is preferred.

• A solid understanding of classroom pedagogy.

• Ability to design customized, engaging lesson plans using practical, real-world scenarios.

• Capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
