English Instructor – FT

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Teach small groups of students essential English skills to foster long-term comprehension and achieve high ACT/SAT scores.

• Monitor student progress using Vanguard’s multi-phase curriculum.

• Provide students with personalized growth and improvement opportunities.

• Organize and update student lesson schedules effectively.

• Ensure students are accountable for their assignments.

• Demonstrate professionalism and excellent organizational skills through timely communication with students.

• Design and creatively implement evolving lesson plans and curriculum.

• Guide middle and high school students throughout the college application process.

• Availability during operational hours: Tuesdays–Thursdays from 1:30 pm to 9:30 pm CST and Saturdays–Sundays from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm CST.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree or higher in a humanities field from accredited US institutions (such as English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Publishing, etc.); a Master's degree or higher is preferred.

• At least 1 year of teaching experience in English and/or experience in a college-level Writing Center.

• Proven academic excellence, with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

• Excellent verbal communication skills and a strong command of the English language.

• Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and G-Suites.

• A reliable internet connection and a workspace that minimizes noise and distractions.

• Commitment to working during the designated hours of operation.

• Preferably, experience teaching at the college or community college level.

• Knowledge of classroom pedagogy and the capability to develop engaging, customized lesson plans.

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
