English Instructor, FT

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Teach small groups of students essential English skills for lasting comprehension and high ACT/SAT performance

• Monitor student progress through Vanguard’s multi-phase curriculum

• Encourage students to engage in personalized growth and improvement opportunities

• Organize and update student lesson schedules

• Ensure students are accountable for their assignments

• Demonstrate professionalism and strong organizational abilities through timely communication with students

• Design and creatively implement adaptive lesson plans and curriculum

• Guide middle and high school students through the college application process

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a humanities discipline from US institutions (English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Publishing, etc.)

• Master’s degree or higher preferred

• At least 1 year of teaching experience in English and/or experience in a college-level Writing Center

• Proven academic excellence (e.g., 3.5+ GPA)

• Strong verbal communication skills and mastery of the English language

• Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and G-Suites

• Reliable internet connection and a workspace with minimal noise and distractions

• Commitment to work during designated hours of operation

• Experience teaching at the college or community college level preferred

• Solid understanding of classroom pedagogy

• Capability to create tailored, engaging lesson plans using practical, real-world examples

• Passion for helping students achieve their maximum potential

• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
