English Instructor, FT

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Instruct small groups of students in fundamental English skills to ensure long-term comprehension and enhance ACT and SAT performance.

• Monitor student progress utilizing Vanguard’s multi-phase curriculum.

• Engage students in personalized growth and improvement opportunities.

• Maintain and update lesson schedules for students.

• Hold students accountable for their assignments.

• Demonstrate professionalism and strong organizational skills through timely communication with students.

• Develop and creatively implement evolving lesson plans and curriculum.

• Mentor middle and high school students throughout the college application process.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in a humanities discipline from accredited US institutions (e.g., English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Publishing, etc.).

• A Master’s degree or higher is preferred.

• Over 1 year of teaching experience in English and/or experience in a college-level Writing Center.

• Proven academic excellence (e.g., GPA of 3.5 or higher).

• Exceptional verbal communication skills and mastery of the English language.

• Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and Google Suite.

• Reliable internet connection and a workspace that minimizes noise and distractions.

• Commitment to work during the specified hours of operation.

• Teaching experience at the college or community college level is advantageous.

• Strong understanding of classroom pedagogy.

• Ability to design customized, engaging lesson plans using practical, real-world examples.

• Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
