English Instructor – FT

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.

📋 Description

• Instruct small groups of students in essential English skills to ensure long-term comprehension and achieve high scores on ACT and SAT exams.

• Monitor student progress through Vanguard’s multi-phase curriculum.

• Engage students in personalized growth and improvement opportunities.

• Maintain and regularly update student lesson schedules.

• Hold students accountable for their assignments.

• Exemplify professionalism and strong organizational abilities through timely communication with students.

• Develop and creatively implement evolving lesson plans and curriculum.

• Support middle and high school students throughout the college application journey with empathy.

• Assist students in recognizing, striving for, and achieving their fullest potential.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a humanities discipline from US institutions (English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Publishing, etc.).

• Minimum of one year of teaching experience in English and/or experience in a college-level Writing Center.

• Proven academic excellence (e.g., GPA of 3.5 or higher).

• Strong verbal communication skills and mastery of the English language.

• Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and Google Workspace.

• Access to a reliable internet connection and a workspace that is quiet and free from distractions.

• Commitment to working during the designated Hours of Operations.

• Experience teaching at the college or community college level (ideal candidate).

• Solid understanding of classroom pedagogy.

• Ability to design tailored, engaging lesson plans utilizing practical, real-world examples.

• Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
