English Instructor, FT

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Teach small groups of students the core skills of English to ensure long-term comprehension and achieve high scores on the ACT and SAT.

• Monitor student progress using Vanguard’s multi-phase curriculum.

• Encourage students through personalized growth and improvement opportunities.

• Organize and update student lesson schedules.

• Hold students accountable for their assignments.

• Demonstrate professionalism and strong organizational abilities through timely communication with students.

• Develop and creatively implement evolving lesson plans and curriculum.

• Guide middle and high school students through the college application journey.

• Collaborate with Vanguard’s instructors, counselors, and specialists to promote student success.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in a humanities discipline from accredited US institutions (such as English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Publishing, etc.).

• A Master’s degree or higher is preferred.

• At least 1 year of teaching experience in English and/or experience in a college-level Writing Center.

• Proven academic excellence (e.g., a GPA of 3.5 or higher).

• Excellent verbal communication skills and a strong command of the English language.

• Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and G-Suites.

• Access to a reliable internet connection and a workspace with minimal noise and distractions.

• Willingness to work during the designated hours of operation.

• Experience teaching at the college or community college level is preferred.

• Strong understanding of classroom pedagogy.

• Ability to design customized, engaging lesson plans using practical, real-world examples.

• Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
