English Instructor – FT

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Teach small groups of students core English skills to enhance their understanding and achieve high scores on the ACT and SAT exams.

• Monitor student progress through Vanguard’s multi-phase curriculum.

• Engage students in personalized growth and improvement initiatives.

• Maintain and update lesson schedules for students.

• Hold students accountable for their assignments.

• Demonstrate professionalism and strong organizational skills through prompt communication with students.

• Develop and creatively implement evolving lesson plans and curriculum.

• Guide middle and high school students through the college application process.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in a humanities discipline from US institutions (e.g., English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Publishing, etc.).

• A Master’s degree or higher is preferred.

• At least 1 year of teaching experience in English and/or experience in a college-level Writing Center.

• Proven academic excellence (e.g., a GPA of 3.5 or higher).

• Strong verbal communication skills and mastery of the English language.

• Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and G-Suites.

• A reliable internet connection and a workspace with minimal noise and distractions.

• A commitment to work during designated operational hours.

• Experience teaching at the college or community college level is preferred.

• A solid understanding of classroom pedagogy.

• Ability to create tailored, engaging lesson plans incorporating practical, real-world examples.

• Capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
