English Instructor – FT

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mississippi.

📋 Description

• Teach small groups of students essential English skills to ensure long-term comprehension and achieve high ACT and SAT scores.

• Monitor student progress through Vanguard’s multi-phase curriculum.

• Foster individualized growth and improvement opportunities for students.

• Keep student lesson schedules current and organized.

• Hold students accountable for their assignments.

• Demonstrate professionalism and strong organizational skills by communicating with students in a timely manner.

• Design and creatively implement evolving lesson plans and curriculum.

• Guide middle and high school students through the college application process.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in a humanities field from U.S. institutions (English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Publishing, etc.); a Master’s degree or higher is preferred.

• At least 1 year of teaching experience in English and/or experience in a college-level Writing Center.

• Proven academic excellence, such as a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

• Excellent verbal communication skills and a strong command of the English language.

• Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and Google Suite.

• Access to a reliable internet connection and a distraction-free workspace.

• A commitment to work during the specified Hours of Operations.

• Experience teaching at the college or community college level is preferred.

• A solid understanding of classroom pedagogy.

• Capability to craft customized, engaging lesson plans using practical, real-world examples.

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
