English Instructor – FT

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa.

📋 Description

• Teach small groups of students the fundamental skills of English to ensure long-term comprehension and achieve high ACT/SAT scores.

• Monitor student advancement through Vanguard’s multi-phase curriculum.

• Provide students with personalized growth and improvement opportunities.

• Keep student lesson schedules current and organized.

• Ensure students are accountable for their assignments.

• Demonstrate professionalism and strong organizational abilities through prompt communication with students.

• Develop and innovatively implement evolving lesson plans and educational content.

• Assist middle and high school students throughout the college application process.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in a humanities discipline from accredited US institutions (such as English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Publishing, etc.).

• At least one year of teaching experience in English or work experience in a college-level Writing Center.

• Proven academic excellence, with a minimum GPA of 3.5.

• Exceptional verbal communication skills and a strong command of the English language.

• Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and Google Suite.

• Access to a stable internet connection and a quiet workspace with minimal distractions.

• Willingness to work during specified operational hours.

• Experience teaching at the college or community college level.

• Strong grasp of classroom instructional methods.

• Capability to design engaging lesson plans that utilize practical, real-world examples.

• Passion for helping students achieve their maximum potential.

• Energetic and personable demeanor.

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
