English Instructor – FT

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama.

📋 Description

• Teach small groups of students essential English skills to ensure long-term comprehension and achieve high ACT and SAT scores.

• Monitor student progress using Vanguard’s multi-phase curriculum.

• Provide personalized growth and improvement opportunities to engage students.

• Maintain and regularly update lesson schedules for students.

• Ensure students are accountable for their assignments.

• Demonstrate professionalism and strong organizational skills through prompt communication with students.

• Develop and creatively implement evolving lesson plans and curricula.

• Guide middle and high school students through the college application process.

• Collaborate with Vanguard’s instructors, counselors, and specialists to promote student success.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in a humanities discipline from accredited US institutions (such as English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Publishing, etc.); a Master’s degree or higher is preferred.

• A minimum of 1 year of teaching experience in English or relevant experience in a college-level Writing Center.

• Proven academic excellence, exemplified by a GPA of 3.5 or above.

• Exceptional verbal communication skills and a strong command of the English language.

• Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and G-Suites.

• A reliable internet connection and a workspace that minimizes noise and distractions.

• A commitment to work during the designated hours of operation.

• Experience teaching at the college or community college level is preferred.

• Knowledge of classroom pedagogy and the capability to develop tailored, engaging lesson plans.

• Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
