English Instructor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Provide instruction to small groups of students focusing on essential English skills for lasting comprehension and strong ACT and SAT performance.

• Monitor student advancement utilizing Vanguard’s multi-phase curriculum.

• Encourage students through personalized growth and improvement initiatives.

• Organize and refresh student lesson schedules regularly.

• Ensure students are accountable for their assignments.

• Exemplify professionalism and excellent organizational skills by maintaining timely communication with students.

• Design and dynamically implement innovative lesson plans and curriculum.

• Guide middle and high school students throughout the college application journey.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in a humanities discipline from accredited U.S. institutions (such as English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Publishing, etc.).

• A minimum of one year of teaching experience in English or experience in a college-level Writing Center.

• Proven academic achievement (e.g., a GPA of 3.5 or higher).

• Excellent verbal communication skills and proficiency in the English language.

• Familiarity with MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and G-Suites.

• Access to a stable internet connection and a quiet workspace with minimal distractions.

• Willingness to work during the designated hours of operation.

• Experience teaching at the college or community college level is preferred.

• Strong understanding of classroom pedagogy.

• Capability to develop tailored, engaging lesson plans utilizing practical, real-world examples.

• Ability to work effectively both independently and in a collaborative team setting.
