English Instructor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oklahoma.

📋 Description

• Instruct small groups of students in core English skills to promote long-term comprehension and achieve high scores on the ACT and SAT.

• Monitor student progress using Vanguard’s multi-phase curriculum.

• Provide individualized opportunities for growth and improvement to engage students.

• Maintain and regularly update lesson schedules for students.

• Ensure students are accountable for completing assignments.

• Exemplify professionalism and exceptional organizational skills through prompt communication with students.

• Develop and creatively implement evolving lesson plans and curriculum.

• Guide middle and high school students through the college application process.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in a humanities discipline from US institutions (such as English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Publishing, etc.).

• A Master’s degree or higher is preferred.

• At least 1 year of teaching experience in English and/or experience in a college-level Writing Center.

• Proven academic excellence, such as a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

• Strong verbal communication skills and a high level of mastery in the English language.

• Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and G-Suites.

• Access to a reliable internet connection.

• A workspace that is quiet and free from distractions.

• A commitment to working during the specified hours of operation.

• Experience teaching at the college or community college level is preferred.

• A solid understanding of classroom pedagogy.

• Capability to develop customized, engaging lesson plans that utilize practical, real-world examples.

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
