Engineering Manager, Wallet

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Oversee the recruitment, training, coaching, and retention of engineers for wallet clients, supporting services, and on-chain integrations.

• Establish the technical vision for account creation and recovery, key management, signing, transaction construction and simulation, dApp connectivity, asset management, swaps, and DeFi experiences.

• Develop ownership and execution strategies across web, browser extension, iOS, Android, backend services, SDKs, and protocol dependencies.

• Enhance standards for architecture, testing, release safety, observability, incident response, and post-incident learning.

• Collaborate with product and design teams to streamline complex on-chain workflows while transparently communicating fees, permissions, risks, and transaction results.

• Work alongside security and protocol teams to assess threats, manage dependencies, and balance usability, decentralization, privacy, and asset protection.

• Leverage data, user research, support feedback, and ecosystem context to prioritize tasks and evaluate product and engineering outcomes.

• Assist Slush, Mysten Labs' wallet across web, browser extension, iOS, and Android platforms.

• Influence how users discover, comprehend, and execute on-chain actions.

• Collaborate with product, design, security, protocol, and ecosystem teams to establish direction, make technical trade-offs, and deliver reliable experiences.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in managing and developing software engineers, including senior engineers, in a high-ownership product environment.

• Direct experience in delivering production blockchain wallet functionality.

• Understanding of self-custody, private-key security, signing, recovery, transaction lifecycle, chain and RPC failure modes, and wallet-to-dApp interaction patterns.

• Hands-on fluency in DeFi, including liquidity, routing, slippage, staking, lending, bridges, protocol and smart-contract risk, and user protections for financial transactions.

• Strong judgment regarding systems across client applications, backend services, APIs or SDKs, distributed dependencies, monitoring, and operational responses.

• Proven track record of providing direction in ambiguous settings, enhancing execution, and delivering reliable products across various platforms.

• Ability to closely partner with product, design, security, and senior technical leaders while ensuring clear engineering accountability.

• Preferred: experience in integrating decentralized exchanges, aggregators, bridges, staking, lending, or fiat on- and off-ramps into a wallet.

• Preferred: familiarity with Sui, Move, programmable transaction blocks, zkLogin, Wallet Standard, or another modern smart-contract platform.

• Preferred: experience guiding products through rapid growth, high transaction volumes, security reviews, or asset-impacting incidents.

• Successful completion of a background check, which may include employment history, educational qualifications, criminal history, and other pertinent information.

• Legal authorization to work in the country where the role is based.

• Must confirm whether visa sponsorship will be required for continued employment in the country of the role.
