Engineering Manager – SRE, Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Finland.

📋 Description

• Design, create, and manage infrastructure across both cloud and hybrid settings.

• Take ownership of networking, infrastructure-as-code, containerization, and cost management.

• Oversee code deployment pipelines and automation, including feature flag systems and progressive delivery.

• Establish and uphold monitoring standards for logging, metrics, and alerting.

• Set service levels and lead incident response and management efforts.

• Engage in 24/7 on-call responsibilities as an engineer.

• Manage the platform security framework, which includes vulnerability management, patching, and upgrades to frameworks/dependencies.

• Ensure compliance with programs involving audit logging, data residency, and access controls.

• Enhance developer experience through the development of internal tools, self-service workflows, and streamlined processes.

• Collaborate with software engineering and product teams to identify constraints, align priorities, and ensure timely delivery.

• Lead a team of 6–8 engineers.

• Oversee hiring processes, interviews, job offers, performance reviews, management of underperformance, and career development.

• Establish career development pathways and mentorship plans for engineers.

• Empower engineers with ownership and autonomy over their respective domains.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience as both an engineer and a people manager, or as a staff engineer providing mentorship.

• Hands-on experience in platform engineering or DevOps at a production scale.

• Knowledge of CI/CD, cloud services, monitoring, and infrastructure-as-code.

• Experience managing reliability in production environments, including on-call duties, incident response, and SLO management.

• Proven track record of enhancing developer experience through internal tools, self-service platforms, or streamlined processes.

• At least 3 years of direct experience managing engineers, with complete responsibility for hiring, performance, and career development.

• Collaborative working approach.

• Experience in a rapidly growing, global SaaS organization is preferred.

• Optional experience in network engineering and DNS administration.

• Optional experience with feature flag-based deployments.

• Optional background in security engineering, including vulnerability management and framework/dependency upgrade programs.

• Previous experience in regulated industries is also optional.
