Engineering Manager – Observability

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +4 more countries.

📋 Description

• Oversee the development and management of backend and frontend engineers through ongoing feedback and career discussions.

• Work collaboratively with go-to-market teams to assist customers and prospects in utilizing Observability collection.

• Collaborate with product and engineering leadership on initiatives such as Fleet Management, the Kubernetes Monitoring Helm Chart, and the Instrumentation Hub.

• Steer projects from conception through planning, execution, and post-launch evaluation.

• Promote psychological safety, continuous learning, experimentation, innovation, and ongoing improvement.

• Engage across team boundaries and partner with various functions to address customer challenges.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in observability, particularly with OpenTelemetry, or in developing a central control plane to manage fleets of collectors is a significant plus.

• Ability to work effectively with autonomous engineering teams.

• Current knowledge of technical trends and challenges faced by teams.

• Comfortable collaborating across different time zones and cultures in a fully remote setting.

• Demonstrated capacity to manage complex situations, align stakeholders, and enhance team performance.

• Strong customer-centric approach.

• Comprehensive understanding of distributed systems principles, including scalability, fault tolerance, consistency, and observability.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted tools; practical experience in integrating AI-driven tools into team workflows is preferable.

• Candidates must reside in Germany, Sweden, Spain, Ireland, or the United Kingdom.
