Engineering Manager – Observability

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Sweden, +4 more countries.

📋 Description

• Oversee and nurture both backend and frontend engineering teams.

• Offer continuous feedback and promote career advancement through meaningful discussions.

• Work in tandem with go-to-market teams to assist customers and potential clients during their Observability collection journey.

• Collaborate with product and engineering leadership on initiatives such as Fleet Management, the Kubernetes Helm Chart, and the Instrumentation Hub.

• Steer projects from initial ideas through to planning, execution, and post-launch evaluation.

• Ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality outcomes.

• Cultivate an environment of psychological safety, learning, experimentation, innovation, and ongoing enhancement.

• Work across team boundaries and collaborate with other departments to address customer issues.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in Observability, particularly with OpenTelemetry, or in developing a central control plane for managing fleets of collectors is highly desirable.

• Comfortable engaging with independent engineering teams in both technical and product-related decision-making.

• Current understanding of technical advancements and the challenges faced by engineering teams.

• Ability to collaborate effectively across different time zones and cultures in a fully remote setting.

• Demonstrated capability to manage complexity, align stakeholders, and boost team performance.

• Strong customer orientation with the ability to make decisions based on user needs and real-world implications.

• Comprehensive understanding of distributed systems concepts, including scalability, fault tolerance, consistency, and observability.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted tools; practical experience in integrating AI-powered solutions into team workflows is preferred.
