Engineering Manager – Observability

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain, +4 more countries.

📋 Description

• Lead and nurture a team of backend and frontend engineers.

• Offer consistent feedback and facilitate career development through meaningful conversations.

• Work collaboratively with go-to-market teams to assist customers and prospects throughout their observability collection journey.

• Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to seamlessly integrate Fleet Management, the Kubernetes Monitoring Helm Chart, and the Instrumentation Hub into Grafana Cloud’s comprehensive user experience.

• Steer projects from concept through planning, execution, and post-launch evaluation.

• Promote psychological safety, innovation, experimentation, and ongoing improvement.

• Engage across team boundaries and collaborate with other departments to address customer challenges.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong experience in observability, particularly with OpenTelemetry, or in developing a central control plane for managing fleets of collectors is highly beneficial.

• Ability to work effectively with autonomous engineering teams.

• Stay current with technical trends and comprehend the challenges faced by engineering teams.

• Comfortable working collaboratively across different time zones and cultures in a fully remote setting.

• Proven capability to manage complexity, align stakeholders, and enhance team performance.

• Strong customer-centric mindset.

• Solid grasp of distributed systems principles, including scalability, fault tolerance, consistency, and observability.

• Proficient in using AI-assisted tools; practical experience in integrating AI-powered tools into team workflows is preferred.

• Experienced in managing both backend and frontend engineers.
