
Engineering Manager – FinTech, Mobile Banking

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kansas, +1 more state.
• Oversee the technology division that supports Spruce, a customer-centric fintech and mobile banking solution.
• Take ownership of the technology strategy, delivery roadmap, and anticipated results for Spruce.
• Manage priorities, dependencies, risks, and delivery across various engineering teams, product managers, and business integrations.
• Collaborate with Product and Design teams to define outcomes, set priorities, organize work, and make trade-offs.
• Provide hands-on leadership for mobile engineering practices across native iOS and Android platforms.
• Ensure secure, resilient, compliant, and high-quality fintech experiences while maintaining production stability.
• Monitor and address product, program, integration, vendor, security, compliance, and operational risks.
• Develop outcome-based plans, delivery health reports, dependency management, and stakeholder communications.
• Foster partnerships across business leadership, architecture, cybersecurity, compliance, operations, data, marketing, customer service, vendors, and technology teams.
• Lead, mentor, and develop engineers and technical leaders.
• Maintain succession plans and make staffing decisions based on necessary skills and capacity.
• Attract, retain, and cultivate a diverse pool of technical talent.
• Implement AI and agentic development methodologies throughout discovery, product and design collaboration, engineering, testing, documentation, operations, and continuous improvement.
• Establish AI-enabled working agreements with a focus on security, privacy, compliance, human oversight, quality, and measurable value.
• Oversee budgets, vendors, contracts, and service performance as necessary.
• 8 years of progressive experience in technology, software engineering, product delivery, consulting, or a related field, including experience in leading complex, mission-critical projects.
• Proven experience utilizing AI-driven tools and agentic development methodologies.
• Demonstrated ability to guide teams in the responsible use of AI and to establish effective AI-enabled working practices.
• Proven leadership experience in people management, including coaching, performance management, talent development, succession planning, workforce planning, and resource allocation across multiple teams.
• Experience managing priorities and programs across various squads, product managers, stakeholders, and interdependent technology or business integrations.
• Experience delivering customer-facing digital products in regulated, high-availability, or financially sensitive environments.
• Strong understanding of agile delivery, DevSecOps, automated testing, observability, reliability, and production support.
• Experience collaborating with Product and Design in a squad trio model.
• Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and facilitation skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
• Preferred: experience with native iOS/Swift and Android/Kotlin applications.
• Preferred: experience in fintech, digital banking, payments, lending, savings, card, or other regulated financial applications.
• Preferred: experience managing financial technology integrations, processors, vendors, APIs, and enterprise capabilities.
• Preferred: experience implementing AI-assisted and agentic development practices at team scale.
• Preferred: experience leading mobile platform modernization efforts.
