Engineering Manager – Backend

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead the strategic technical vision for high-traffic microservices.

• Ensure backend systems deliver exceptional observability, performance, and security at a financial-grade level.

• Connect C-suite goals with engineering implementation.

• Oversee stakeholder expectations and manage resource distribution.

• Take ownership of the technical roadmap for the Digital Bank.

• Provide coaching and mentorship to engineering leaders.

• Foster a high-performance culture centered on accountability, technical excellence, and professional development.

• Enhance engineering processes to boost innovation output.

• Identify and resolve systemic bottlenecks while ensuring speed and reliability.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in software engineering.

• At least 3 years managing multiple teams in a high-concurrency environment (e.g., 30M+ transactions/users).

• Demonstrated success in building and scaling engineering teams of 30-60+ individuals.

• Deep knowledge of modern system design and distributed state management.

• Experience with large-scale backend systems.

• Expertise in architecting Java/Go services and SQL layers for durability and sub-millisecond performance.

• Familiarity with event-driven architectures, including Kafka/RabbitMQ.

• Proven experience orchestrating complex asynchronous workflows in a regulated financial setting.

• Proficient in English.

• Skill in translating intricate architectural risks into business-level decisions for the Board of Directors.
