Engineering Manager – Authorization

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Oversee 1–2 teams responsible for product features, frameworks, staffing, budgets, and timely delivery.

• Deliver modern identity features safely by implementing secure-by-default practices, rigorous testing, and progressive rollouts.

• Plan systems and manage complex downstream dependencies involving networks, databases, and devices.

• Guide architectural roadmaps towards scalable, cloud-native frameworks.

• Lead scalability initiatives for queue spikes, large-scale databases, and data-residency requirements.

• Transform LDAP/RADIUS directory protocols into scalable, self-healing cloud architectures.

• Offer technical coaching, support for career development, and ensure psychological safety.

• Address priority conflicts and eliminate obstacles.

• Establish stringent release protocols and maintain operational oversight.

• Cultivate stakeholder relationships and implement tactical change management.

• Manage authentication services using operational metrics and maintain transparent cross-functional communication.

• Integrate automated AI workflows for routine tasks.

• Promote Spec-Driven Development using Cursor/Copilot while ensuring test coverage and code quality.

• Clearly communicate team contributions within broader departmental objectives.

• Ensure 24/7 service health.

⛳️ Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in software engineering.

• 8+ years as an Individual Contributor, progressing to Staff Engineer or Tech Lead.

• 4+ years of experience in direct Engineering Management.

• Expertise in Identity & Access Management (IAM), authentication protocols, and related platform architecture.

• Proven ability to apply sound technical judgment in ambiguous, high-stakes situations.

• University Degree or equivalent experience (preferred qualification).

• Must reside in and be authorized to work in India.

• Proficient in spoken and written English.

• Willingness and readiness to participate in assigned on-call shifts.
