Engineering Manager

📋 Description

• Lead, mentor, and nurture a team of software engineers.

• Take responsibility for team delivery, execution, and engineering well-being.

• Collaborate with Product to convert business goals into actionable technical strategies.

• Engage in architecture, design, and engineering discussions.

• Ensure adherence to practices regarding code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, security, and documentation.

• Promote consistent delivery while managing feature development, technical debt, scalability, and platform reliability.

• Collaborate with Principal and Senior Engineers on architectural and complex technical decisions.

• Leverage engineering metrics and qualitative insights to enhance team efficiency, quality, and delivery.

• Identify dependencies and obstacles, coordinating efforts across teams.

• Foster a culture of ownership and accountability.

• Assist with hiring, onboarding, performance management, career growth, and succession planning.

• Contribute to broader Engineering initiatives and enhance software development practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Multiple years of professional software engineering experience, including the building and operation of production systems.

• Solid hands-on experience with Java and the Java ecosystem.

• Demonstrated experience in leading or managing software engineering teams.

• Strong technical judgment with the ability to engage in architecture and technical discussions.

• Familiarity with contemporary software development practices, Java-based backend systems, cloud-native architectures, APIs, distributed systems, and CI/CD.

• Robust understanding of software quality, automated testing, observability, security, and operational excellence.

• Experience in defining and applying engineering effectiveness and delivery metrics, including DORA metrics, flow metrics, and quality and reliability indicators.

• Strong knowledge of AI-assisted and agentic software development, with hands-on experience utilizing modern AI coding tools and agents.

• Proven experience working closely with Product in an agile product development setting.

• Excellent people-management skills, including coaching, providing feedback, performance management, and career development.

• Capability to transform ambiguous business requirements into structured execution plans.

• Data-driven approach to engineering performance.

• Exceptional communication skills, enabling collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Professional proficiency in English.
