This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.
• Lead and mentor a team of engineers, overseeing output, technical decisions, career development, and priority management.
• Provide guidance on technical decisions and support sound architectural choices.
• Collaborate with engineering leaders, product management, design, and customer success to ensure successful roadmap delivery.
• Clarify requirements, eliminate ambiguity, and make scoping decisions for ongoing product initiatives.
• Take ownership of team execution from planning and prioritization to delivery.
• Ensure that commitments are fulfilled and that any blockers are swiftly addressed.
• Manage support escalations and work with customer success to triage, prioritize, and resolve production challenges.
• Guarantee timely and high-quality feature delivery through effective scoping and innovative problem-solving.
• Oversee testing outcomes and quality assurance gates.
• Collaborate with DevOps to enhance build pipelines and CI/CD processes.
• Promote code quality, testing, and engineering best practices.
• Measure and enhance team performance indicators (KPIs).
• Monitor cycle times, work in progress, and velocity to improve delivery health.
• Engage in hiring, onboarding, and fostering the growth of the engineering team.
• Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance evaluations, and career development discussions.
• 3-5+ years of experience leading engineering teams in SaaS software environments.
• Direct management experience with engineers of varying seniority levels.
• Proven ability to develop talent and retain high-performing individuals.
• Proficient in at least one of the following: Elixir, React, React Native, or AWS.
• Practical experience leading Agile or Kanban/Lean sprint teams.
• Demonstrable improvements in velocity, quality, or delivery timelines.
• Experience in scoping, planning, and consistently shipping software.
• Background in building and refining supportive engineering processes.
• Capability to set clear goals and expectations, monitor progress, and make necessary adjustments.
• Experience managing projects from start to finish in fast-paced or ambiguous settings.
• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience advocating for engineering requirements across functions.
• Familiar with instrumentation, observability, and engineering performance tools.
• Comfortable working in a startup or high-growth environment.
