This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee multiple teams within the Boarding & Maintenance department.
• Take responsibility for team performance, personnel management, standards adherence, and operational health.
• Manage hiring processes, provide feedback, and oversee performance evaluations.
• Uphold technical excellence in design reviews, incident management, and roadmap discussions.
• Set standards for AI-native engineering practices.
• Collaborate with Product and Design partners to ensure reliable and sustainable delivery.
• Measure and enhance team outcomes, delivery indicators, quality metrics, and activity statistics.
• Sustain SLO coverage, enhance deployment frequency and lead time, while ensuring manageable on-call duties.
• Coordinate high-pressure incident management, including effective communication and decision-making.
• Identify and mitigate single points of failure through practices like shadowing, rotation, and documented knowledge sharing.
• Foster the development of engineers into more advanced roles.
• Explicitly manage tradeoffs between technical debt and platform initiatives.
• Create self-healing boarding processes, automate portfolio transitions, bank account change automation, processor file constructions, case workflows, unified progressive boarding, and legacy system migrations.
• Proven experience in managing engineers on a full-time basis, encompassing hiring, performance accountability, and delivery oversight.
• Adequate technical expertise to maintain high standards in design reviews, incident responses, and roadmap discussions.
• Generally, around 7+ years of experience, including leadership of teams.
• Strong technical foundation in Node.js/TypeScript systems, focusing on messaging, latency, and reliability.
• Familiarity with observability tools such as Datadog.
• Experience in conducting hiring processes for backend engineers while upholding a high technical standard.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with senior technical leaders (Staff+ engineers).
• Preferably experienced in FinTech, payments, banking, or other transaction-intensive systems.
• Knowledge of PCI DSS or other regulations related to sensitive financial data is preferred.
• Prior individual contributor experience as a Senior or Staff Node.js engineer is a plus.
