Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Cyprus, +3 more countries.

📋 Description

• Lead four engineering teams that focus on the control plane, core edge and proxy layer, analytics and logging platform, as well as DNS and traffic management.

• Take ownership of deliveries on a bi-weekly basis, which includes planning, commitments, and reporting on completed work.

• Establish and uphold technical priorities in collaboration with Product, Support, and Maintenance teams.

• Determine which tasks the teams will not pursue each quarter.

• Manage incident and post-incident processes, including severity calls, root cause analysis, and preventative measures.

• Oversee the on-call rotation and ensure a clear escalation pathway is maintained.

• Mentor engineers and tech leads through individual meetings, constructive feedback, and growth planning.

• Efficiently hire when there is headcount availability.

• Enhance planning, prioritization, quality standards, documentation, and service ownership.

• Promote the adoption of AI tools and methodologies.

• Supervise work related to cache and shielding behavior, configuration delivery at scale, ClickHouse analytics performance and cost, traffic steering and failover, as well as customer-impact observability.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of four years’ experience leading software engineering teams, including managing tech leads.

• Hands-on experience with internet infrastructure such as CDN, DNS, reverse proxies, or large-scale distributed systems.

• Sufficient expertise to independently reason about HTTP caching, nginx behavior, TLS and SNI, and anycast routing.

• Proven history of managing incident responses and ensuring post-incident follow-through, beyond just participating in calls.

• Ability to simultaneously manage multiple teams, with the confidence to say no to stakeholders with valid reasoning.

• Experience working with distributed teams across European and Asian time zones.

• Nice to have: Proficiency in C, Rust, Go, or Python at a level where you can review code changes.

• Nice to have: Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, ClickHouse, and distributed tracing.

• Nice to have: Experience with Kubernetes alongside bare-metal fleet operations.

• Nice to have: Background in a CDN, DNS, or cloud provider, or within a network operator.

• Nice to have: Experience acting as a product owner for platform-related work.
